Though winter and autumn have immediate seasonal scent associations (think notes of pine & amber) there is something magically elusive about the smell of summer- endless combinations that conjure up warm sunshine, bright citrus, blooming florals, breezy nights, the salty sea, fresh cut herbs and the list goes on.
The scent of summer is all about those bright notes that somehow remain breezy and light. Though the days are long and temperatures hot, I actually find myself lighting candles quite often during the summer months.
Especially with frequent outdoor entertaining, candles are the perfect accompaniment to creating background ambiance. With a warm glow and long-lasting scent, the right candle will set the perfect backdrop no matter where you are.
While fragrance is entirely subjective, summertime candles usually fall into the floral, citrus or tropical categories. Often times top notes include orange blossom, grapefruit, lemon, jasmine, or peony and are balanced alongside zesty herbal notes to add in a dose of freshness.
